We view youth ministry at Midtown as a greenhouse — an intentional environment suited for spiritual growth and gospel transformation. Because youth aren’t just the next generation of the church. They’re a vital part of the church right now.
Midtown Youth exists to help 6th-12th grade students grow and go in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We want students to grow into spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and socially mature disciples of Jesus — and to go into their homes, churches, schools, and the world as Spirit-led disciple makers for the kingdom of God.
Everything we do is rooted in creating a greenhouse
of gospel transformation for students in Nashville.
Our philosophy
Youth is a beautiful cross-generational and cross-congregational ministry of Midtown.
For students
We believe that students are not just the next generation of the church but that they are a vital part of the church right now. We believe they have gifts, talents, wisdom, love, and faith that are critical to the health and vibrancy of Midtown and the city of Nashville. We seek to fan the fullness of who they are into flame through our ministry.
We believe that parents are the primary disciplers of their children. As a youth ministry, we get to partner with parents in the discipleship of their children. We seek to foster that partnership to see the student flourish.
We ask volunteer leaders to pursue students in intentional discipling relationships as older brothers or sisters in Christ who model what it looks like to follow Jesus, be changed by Jesus, and be on mission with Jesus. This team meets students where they are and significantly impacts them through relational investment.
We help students grow in faith and community through honest relationships, fun, God’s word, and shared experiences.
Middle school ministry
For middle school students, we focus on creating a consistent space to build rich relationships by getting to know God through play, the word of God, and honest discussion with peers and leaders. We desire middle school students to grow in their understanding and experience of Jesus as the foundation for life.
High school ministry
For high school students, we focus on pursuing students where they are developmentally, creating a safe space to build relationships, encounter God, read the word of God, wrestle with how to follow God in the different aspects of their lives, and share God with their friends.
Special events
For all students, we offer spaces where students can bring their friends to get a taste of the freedom, joy, fun, and truth found in following Jesus while building relationships within our community. We also have special events to mark the start and end of semesters together, reflecting and celebrating as a community.
Retreats and camps
Throughout the year, we have a few retreats for students to build relationships through an embodied experience of the gospel in a camp environment. These exist to provide opportunities for students to learn to serve each other, the vulnerable in the city of Nashville, and people with disabilities across the country.
