Membership

Why membership matters

Membership at Midtown isn’t about joining a club or getting insider status — it’s about belonging.

It’s a way that we commit to one another in love, support, and service. At Midtown, we believe that we grow best when we’re rooted in community, and membership is a way of saying, “I’m in.” It’s a step that reflects a desire to grow in faith, to serve others, and to be known and cared for by a local church family.

The Bible makes it clear that the church is not a building; it’s made up of unique people. We each carry gifts, stories, and strengths that help shape who we are together. And we each need the encouragement, care, and accountability that comes from walking with others who are following Jesus. Membership is a mutual commitment. It’s a promise to show up for one another, to pursue unity, and to submit to something greater than ourselves — the love and leadership of Christ.

If you’re ready to take that step, we’d love to walk with you.

How it works

1
Tell us you're interested
If you would like to become a member or learn more about Midtown Fellowship, then Explore Midtown is for you! Register here for an upcoming class.
2
Attend Explore Midtown
Attending Explore Midtown is the first step in the membership process. We have designed our Explore Midtown class to be a place where you can learn more about membership, why it is important, what we believe, and how we live out those beliefs in our mission of gospel transformation through multiple congregations.
3
Meet with our team
Following the classes, you’ll be contacted to schedule a meeting with a leader from your congregation. This is a time for you to share your faith journey and ask any questions that you have about Midtown, our beliefs, and our practices.
4
Take vows
All new members will be welcomed on a Sunday morning at the location that they regularly attend. You will be asked to affirm vows in front of the congregation as a demonstration of your desire to become part of this local church body.
5
Be the church
Members are asked to participate in the life of the church in unique ways, including nominating and voting on elders and attending congregational meetings where we conduct necessary church business.

Explore Midtown

If you are interested in becoming a member, we recommend starting with our four-week Explore Midtown course. Explore Midtown is offered twice a year, and it includes teaching from our pastoral staff and other ministry leaders. These nights are open to anyone from any of our congregations and are the first step in the membership process.
