At Midtown West, we long to be a church family where every person feels seen, known, and cared for.

We believe that life is both beautiful and broken. That seasons of joy often mingle with sorrow, loss, and struggle. In the midst of it all, we want our community to reflect the heart of Jesus by walking alongside one another with compassion, presence, and grace. We care because we have first been cared for. When you've been met by the mercy of God in your own brokenness, you can't help but extend that same mercy to someone else.

Creating a culture of care means fostering meaningful relationships, offering support in times of need, and reminding one another that we don’t have to walk alone. Through the leadership of our Mercy & Care Team and the partnership of our elders and our staff, we seek to build a church where mercy and care are not just a ministry, but a way of life together.

We think of our team as a bridge to building relationships, opening up ways to serve, and walking alongside our people as they step into service. There is adventure in following Jesus into the needs around us, and he uses that to make all things new both in the people we serve and in us.

Our philosophy

You don't have to walk alone, and no need is too small. We are living into the ministry of care by showing up.

Mercy and care happen most fully in the context of community. Whether it’s through shepherding, recovery groups, mentorship, or small groups, we’ll help you find meaningful relationships with others who have walked or are walking similar paths.

How we care

We’re here with you and for you.

Prayer
Our prayer shepherds and elders are available to listen, support, and pray with anyone seeking encouragement or requesting intercession.
Care visits
Our team prioritizes presence by visiting those facing hospitalization, loss, or extended time at home to offer support in vulnerable times.
Meals
In partnership with small groups, our team provides practical support for individuals and families navigating illness, grief, or major life transitions.
Benevolence
For those facing financial strain, we offer a confidential process to request assistance and explore ways the church can help meet tangible needs.
Counsel
Whether through pastoral care, pre-marital meetings*, or referrals to trusted professionals, our team connects you to gospel-centered counsel as needed.
Bereavement
When a death occurs, a care team comes alongside the grieving family to offer support and coordinate funeral logistics with both thoughtfulness and grace.
Women's Shepherding
We believe women are uniquely chosen and beautifully called and equipped by God, deeply loved and seen. Led by Emily Seibert, we’re raising up a team of women who can walk with you through prayer, hard questions, and the heavy seasons of life. If you’re a woman who would feel more comfortable being cared for by another woman, we’d love to cover you in that way.
*Premarital counseling is requested through our Wedding Page linked here and cannot be guaranteed due to the pastor’s availability.
Recovery Groups

One of the unique ways that we provide care at Midtown is through Recovery Groups.

Recovery Groups provide a safe, supportive space to be honest about what’s going on and to experience the healing power of being truly known and accepted. These groups aren’t a Bible study or a 12-Step program — instead, they combine open sharing, book discussion, and space to process stories. Recovery Groups typically form in the fall and end in the spring. For more information and a safe, confidential conversation, feel free to reach out to Dave Stelling who is a Midtown West elder.

Helping to care

Small acts, big impact.

Being cared for and caring for others are two sides of the same family. We don’t serve as a performance or out of guilt. We go where we’ve been prayerfully sent by the Spirit, we go because we’ve been loved, and we’re changed in the going. If something here stirs you, this is where to start.

HOW WE CARE

Our team has three focus areas.

Internal Care

When life gets heavy, meals show up, and so do people. This is hands-and-feet care for families in our body walking through illness, loss, a new baby, or a hard season.

Led by Matthew Johnson

Napier Kitchen Table

We’re building friendships with our church family at Napier Kitchen Table. There are many ways in, from a one-time donation like Fill the Bus to walking with the same people repeatedly over time. What we’re really after isn’t volunteering. It’s relationship.

Led by Margaret McCain

Groups & Formation

We believe serving should be the lifeblood of a small group. We help groups serve together, learn to enter a community with humility, and grow as they go.
